Patient Engagement Behavior Framework:
What is "Patient Engagement?"
The purpose of compiling the Engagement Behavior Framework is to describe a realistic picture of what we as individuals must do to achieve our goal of living as free of the constraints of illness as we can. Enumerating these necessary behaviors allows the public and other stakeholders to understand the magnitude and scope of the challenge we face in engaging in our health and health care. It provides concrete, measureable goals for behavior change that should be the goal of the re-orientation of care delivery toward patient-centeredness. And it points to the need for stakeholders to make strategic decisions about the kind of information, guidance and support that will be needed for all their patients, members or constituents to be knowledgeable and willing to act on their own behalf. To read the Engagement Behavior Framework, click here.
